Joburg Film Festival Returns With 60 Curated Films

The annual Joburg Film Festival will run from March 3rd to the 8th this year.
Organisers say the programme will feature a selection of films blending African storytelling with global cinema.
The festival includes 60 curated films, made up of 40 fiction features and 18 non-fiction features.
An additional 65 short films will also be screened, including nine creative student productions.

Anonymous Donor Boosts Uitenhage Spca Fundraiser

The Uitenhage SPCA has received an incredible R500,000 donation from an anonymous supporter.
The contribution brings the fundraiser total to R1,641,938, moving the SPCA closer to its R2.7 million goal to secure a permanent new home for the animals in their care.
The campaign has seen widespread community support, with schools, businesses, and individuals contributing through events, raffles, and donations.
The SPCA says every contribution helps ensure a safe and secure future for the animals.

The two-day event marked 30 years of advancing training, safety, and transformation, with government, industry, and labour representatives attending. Speakers highlighted the importance of apprenticeships, structured training, and partnerships to equip workers for technological and economic shifts.
MQA chair Dr Nomusa Zethu Qunta emphasised adapting skills development to the changing world of work, while Minister Buti Manamela called investment in skills a cornerstone for the country’s future.
