30,000 Learners Pledge Against Underage Drinking
Story 3
More than 30,000 learners in the Eastern Cape have pledged to avoid alcohol while underage through AWARE.org's #NOToU18 Peer-to-Peer Programme.
The initiative trains student leaders to hold discussions on peer pressure, alcohol abuse, and healthy decision-making in schools and communities.
During its pilot year, the programme reached 40 schools and delivered more than 280 learner-led sessions.
Organisers say the project has helped encourage safer choices among young people and contributed to a decline in reported pens-down incidents at participating schools.
