Ekurhuleni elder choirs use music to raise funds and tackle loneliness
Story 1
Ten elder choirs from across Ekurhuleni have joined forces through the Greater Ekurhuleni Elder Choir Fundraising Forum to raise money for older persons' social clubs while helping combat loneliness.
The forum recently brought together about 700 people at the Vosloorus Civic Centre, where choirs performed to raise funds for activities, transport and essential items for senior citizens. Organisers say the concerts also give older people regular opportunities to socialise, build friendships and support one another, while attracting audiences of all ages.
The forum plans to continue hosting concerts across Ekurhuleni throughout the year.

Community Raises Funds to Reunite Man and His Dog in Malawi
Story 2
A Malawian man facing repatriation from South Africa will be reunited with his beloved dog after a community fundraising campaign reached its target in just three days.
St Francis Animal Rescue launched the appeal after learning the man could not afford the full cost of transporting his six-year-old dog to Malawi. The organisation says the pair have been inseparable since the dog was a puppy.
Donations from members of the public covered the dog's veterinary costs, travel crate, flights and food for the journey.
The rescue thanked everyone who contributed, saying the overwhelming support made it possible to keep the lifelong companions together.
