Teens build igloo to lift community spirits in Maryland
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Two teens in Silver Spring, Maryland, built an igloo in front of a home that had been destroyed by fire, creating a cozy gathering spot for neighbors during recent ice storms.
Adeline Sutich and Maeve Ritchotte carved dozens of ice bricks with shovels, built chairs and a table inside, and even set up a guest book for visitors to leave messages.
Their families helped with headlamps, photos, and support, and the igloo quickly became a hub for neighbors to connect, share memories, and enjoy moments of joy despite the harsh winter weather.
Visitors left heartwarming messages in the guest book, with many recalling childhood memories or celebrating the teens’ effort.
