Dozens of young people gathered at Kloofendal Nature Reserve in Johannesburg on Saturday for a World AIDS Day Awareness hike.
The event, organized by the Joburg AIDS Council Youth Sector and the City of Johannesburg Health Department, aimed to promote HIV awareness, testing, and treatment among young people.
Participants enjoyed a hike through the nature reserve while also accessing on-site health services, including HIV testing, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar level checks.
In South Africa, an estimated 18.7% of people living with HIV are between the ages of 15 and 24, highlighting the importance of engaging young people in prevention and treatment efforts.

A primary school in Ntuzuma, KZN, has received a tech boost with the donation of 15 new computer screens and a computer from a Durban law firm.
The donation aims to support the school's digital literacy programme, which is crucial for learners' future careers and social welfare.
The school is already teaching computer literacy and coding, but the new equipment will help reduce the learner-to-computer ratio from six to three.
The school's IT educator Menzi Mfeka says the donation will give learners more hands-on experience, as many come from backgrounds with limited digital exposure.
