Ottery bikers bring pickled fish and hope to Cape Flats
Story 2
Hundreds of residents across the Cape Flats are set to receive meals this Good Friday as the Ottery Boyz MCC Biker Club rolls out its annual pickle fish run.
Now in its 12th year, the initiative delivers freshly prepared pickled fish, bread, and Easter treats to vulnerable communities in areas including Parkwood, Freedom Park, Pine Acres, Philippi and Lotus River.
Led by community activist Keith Blake and his family, the project began after children once came to his door seeking food on Good Friday.
The family now prepares meals with the help of volunteers, including Blake’s sons and grandchildren, ensuring that no child or struggling household goes hungry during the Easter weekend.

North America’s largest wildlife overpass opens in Colorado
Teaser / Tailpiece story
Moose, elk, bears, and mountain lions can now safely cross six lanes of interstate highway traffic along I 25 near Larkspur, Colorado, thanks to the opening of North America’s largest wildlife overpass.
The Greenland overpass, completed ahead of schedule and on budget, connects 15,800 hectares of habitat on both sides of the highway and is part of a larger system of crossings designed to reduce collisions.
Measuring 61 metres wide and 64 metres long, the structure allows big game and smaller animals to move freely while 100,000 vehicles pass below each day. Officials expect the overpass to cut wildlife-vehicle crashes by up to 90%, protecting both animals and drivers.
