SA nears R900 billion in fresh investment pledges

South Africa’s investment drive gained major momentum on Tuesday at the Sandton Convention Centre in Johannesburg, where the country secured R889.8 billion in commitments across 81 projects from 22 source markets.
This builds on the success of the country’s first five year drive, which beat its initial R1.2 trillion target, prompting government to now aim for R3 trillion over the next five years.
The projects, spread across all nine provinces, are expected to create more than 230 000 permanent jobs, with funding set to strengthen infrastructure, energy, manufacturing and logistics.
