The Fellowship Full Gospel Church in Ferndale has launched a community initiative to collect, buy and donate sanitary pads to underprivileged girls.

The initiative aims to collect one thousand packets of sanitary pads to support schoolgirls across Johannesburg.
The organisation’s leader Chrissy Chaplin says more than 250 packets were donated to primary schools in Zandspruit last year.
The campaign is now hoping to expand its reach to schools in areas including Cosmo City, Kya Sands and Ferndale.

A team of young scientists and innovators are helping to find solutions to one of South Africa's biggest water challenges.

The group emerged as the winning team at the 2026 Wetskills South Africa programme, an international innovation workshop focused on water sustainability.

The team developed a water stewardship ecosystem to tackle non-revenue water losses.

Squash South Africa has announced that the national men's and women's teams will be heading to South Korea later this year, for the World Squash Federation World Team Championships.
The event offers a chance for the nation's elite players to compete against the very best in the world.

Squash SA president Blaar Coetzee explained that sending the teams to South Korea is part of a bigger plan to rebuild South Africa's global standing in the sport.
He says the federation hopes to develop athletes who can eventually win Olympic medals, by creating clear pathways and giving players regular international exposure.
