Africa on Trend celebrates rising designers
Story 2
Northgate Shopping Centre recently put young African designers in the spotlight through its Africa on Trend initiative, blending culture, education, and industry exposure.
The programme featured African-inspired fashion and innovation, giving students a platform to present their work and express their creative identity.
It also offered practical opportunities, including a one-month apprenticeship with Queen B Couture and a fifteen-thousand-rand educational bursary supported by Northgate.
An in-centre exhibition displayed garments from all participants, with retailers assisting through mannequins, setups, and content creation.
The response from shoppers was very positive, and organisers hope to grow the initiative through more partnerships and mentorship opportunities.
