13 Cape Town students to compete at Houston Tech Challenge
Story 1
Thirteen high school students from Cape Town will compete at the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships in Houston at the end of April.
They qualified for the global event for a second year running after placing third in the Robot Games and winning the Inspire Award at the South African National Championships in Cape Town.
The students design, build and program their own robots, while also running outreach programmes that mentor learners and train 48 coaches to start robotics teams.
They will represent South Africa on the world stage as they work to expand access to engineering and technology skills.

The Connectedor Foundation has donated sanitary towels to students at Greenvale College in Roodepoort, to promote menstrual health and hygiene.
At an event held last month, Midrand Montessori High, Women of Purpose, and the We Lead Africa Organisation supported the initiative through mentorship, guidance, and life skills training.
We Lead Africa offered sessions on first aid and fire safety for both male and female learners.
The foundation says their goal is to promote menstrual hygiene, practical skills and mutual respect among students.

President Ramaphosa praises medical team for separating conjoined twins

President Cyril Ramaphosa has congratulated the medical team who separated conjoined twins at Mankweng Hospital near Polokwane in Limpopo.
The identical twins, born on 28 January, were joined at the abdomen and shared a liver and other vital organs.
The delicate seven-hour operation was led by professor Nyaweleni Tshifularo.
On a telephone call with the medical team Ramaphosa says the operation represents a historic moment for Limpopo and South Africa’s public health care sector:
