13 Cape Town Students to Compete at Houston Tech Challenge

Thirteen high school students from Cape Town will compete at the FIRST Tech Challenge World Championships in Houston at the end of April.
They qualified for the global event for a second year running after placing third in the Robot Games and winning the Inspire Award at the South African National Championships in Cape Town.
The students design, build and program their own robots, while also running outreach programmes that mentor learners and train 48 coaches to start robotics teams.
They will represent South Africa on the world stage as they work to expand access to engineering and technology skills.

The agreement starts on March 27, 2026, at the SunBet Arena in Pretoria, where the new season will open.
PUMA will design and supply uniforms, training gear and apparel for teams, referees and fans.
