FIFA Fund Expands Education and Sport Access

The FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund is supporting organisations that improve access to education and sport for children in underprivileged communities.
Pretoria's Eduplex School has been selected as one of only 27 recipients worldwide and one of just two in South Africa.
The funding will help the school expand its programme that integrates deaf learners into mainstream classrooms.
Eduplex has also trained education and healthcare professionals from more than 50 countries to replicate its inclusive education model.

East London hosts community storytelling and bookmaking

Children, parents, caregivers and elders gathered in East London earlier this week, for a storytelling and bookmaking session organised by Nal'ibali and Amaso eAfrika Caregivers.
Participants read stories aloud, exchanged personal stories and created handmade books to encourage reading and strengthen family and community connections.
Elders guided younger participants and shared stories that helped preserve local culture and bridge generational gaps.
The initiative took literacy activities beyond schools and into community spaces where children and families naturally gather.

Stellenbosch University climbs in global rankings

Stellenbosch University has strengthened its position among the world's top universities after improving its global ranking this year.
The institution has climbed to 296th place in the latest QS World University Rankings, up from 302 last year, making it the third-highest ranked university in South Africa and on the continent.
The university has also been placed among the top 2.2 percent of institutions worldwide by the Centre for World University Rankings.
Deputy Vice-Chancellor Sibusiso Moyo says the improvement reflects stronger performance in research, reputation and international partnerships.

Springboks host rugby clinic for youngsters

Several Springbok players took time out from their preparations for Saturday's match against the Barbarians to host a rugby training clinic at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
Learners from 13 primary schools across the Nelson Mandela Bay metro took part in the session.
The youngsters were introduced to modern training methods and learned ball-handling, tackling and scrummaging skills from the world champions.
The clinic gave aspiring players a chance to train alongside some of South Africa's top rugby stars.
