Green Light for Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit

The Fédération Internationale de l'Automobile has officially approved the Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit in South Africa for restoration to Grade 1 status. This is a key milestone toward the potential return of Formula 1 racing to the African continent. The last Formula 1 Grand Prix held on African soil took place at Kyalami in 1993. That event concluded a series of races at the circuit, including notable wins by Williams drivers Nigel Mansell and Alain Prost. With the FIA’s green light, Kyalami has been granted a three-year window to complete necessary upgrades to meet current F1 standards. Key upgrades will include enhanced safety features such as expanded run-off zones, updated barrier and debris fencing systems, and improved drainage infrastructure.
