The South African Association for Jazz Education will host its 16th national conference from next week Wednesday to Friday at the University of KwaZulu-Natal in Durban.
Held under the theme “Indigenous Musical Elements in South African Jazz,” the event will bring together educators, researchers, students and performers for research presentations, masterclasses and live performances.
Musicians including Bheki Khoza and Buddy Wells will perform and lead sessions examining Cape jazz, Zulu and Xhosa musical traditions and their influence on contemporary jazz.
The conference will conclude with a live performance at The Chairman in Durban.
