Top matriculants, including Disha Misra and Keesha Ramsamy, were recognised for academic excellence, while awards were also presented to community leaders and organisations such as Bracken High School principal Mogale Mochaki, the Brackendowns CPF, and local SAPS members for their work in improving education, safety, and civic engagement.

Eastern Cape Cyclists Ride 1,000km for School Shoes

Three Eastern Cape cyclists are taking on a 1,000 kilometre journey to raise funds for school children who cannot afford uniforms and shoes.
Antony Wannell, founder of Amariders, is riding alongside Blessing Kambikiri and Anrico Quiens to support learners identified by local schools.
The ride began on 15 February, with the team set to cover about 500 kilometres in the first week. Quiens will complete the full 1,000 kilometres by month-end, while the others each ride 500.
The public can support the effort by pledging one rand per kilometre ridden, with distances verified via Strava.

Red balloons and laughter filled the paediatric ward at Steve Biko Academic Hospital as Heart Kids South Africa marked CHD Awareness Week.
The organisation partnered with hospital staff to create a vibrant space with games, sweets and face painting for young heart patients and their families.
