Work has begun on the Organic Vegetable Garden Project in Ruimsig, Johannesburg, a collaboration between the WRAP Residents Association, Toolbox Empowerment Hub, and Toyota CFAO Mobility. Sixty garden beds are being prepared to provide fresh vegetables to over 60 local schools and organisations, while teaching residents sustainable gardening skills.
The initiative aims to help families reduce reliance on purchased food, with plans to eventually create 10 million household gardens across South Africa. Beneficiaries like Bethany House Trust are already excited about the impact on children and staff.

South Africa’s unemployment rate has eased to 31.4 percent in the fourth quarter of 2025, down from 31.9 percent in the previous quarter, according to Statistics South Africa. The number of discouraged work-seekers also fell by 233 000, showing more people are re-entering the job market.
Job growth was strongest in construction, finance, and community services, contributing to a healthier labour market. Overall employment rose, giving hope for continued economic recovery and opportunities for South Africans.

The City of Tshwane has launched a Youth Development Orientation Programme across its five regions. The initiative aims to connect pupils and students with career guidance, education support, and opportunities for skills development.
The programme targets matriculants from 2025, newly registered university and TVET students, and learners in Grades 10 and 12. Career expos are being hosted with local partners to provide guidance on higher education, financial aid, and entrepreneurship.
The programme runs until 27 March, encouraging parents, educators, and the community to get involved.
