Knight Prep learners host pet food drive

Knight Preparatory School’s Grade 7 learners are already stepping into community service by organising a pet food drive for Place a Pup in Roodepoort.
Through their Knights of Kindness leadership group, they collected dog and cat food from their families as part of a Valentine’s Day outreach project.
The donations will support the rescue and rehabilitation centre, which cares for abandoned and neglected puppies without government funding.
The learners will visit the facility to hand over the supplies and spend time engaging with the animals.

South Africans now have access to essentials at low cost

SKUBU is changing how South Africans buy essentials with its fully automated refill stores offering products at reduced prices to support low-income communities in Diepsloot.
The stores allow customers to buy exactly what they need, reduce waste and manage household budgets.
According to the GoodThingsGuy, the store sells staples like maize meal at extremely low prices, selling at R9-per kg, compared to around R20 elsewhere, which is a 55% saving.
SKUBU currently operates two stores in Diepsloot, with plans to expand to more than 30 locations across Southern Africa over the next two years.

They took part in interactive astronomy activities and attended a science and careers exhibition.

The government initiative targets learners from disadvantaged areas to encourage study in astronomy, science, and technology.
