Activate SA Promotes Responsible AI Use

The South African Artificial Intelligence Association has launched Activate SA, a new initiative aimed at promoting responsible use of artificial intelligence in government and society.
The initiative forms part of the Western Cape AI cluster and will focus on AI policy, governance, infrastructure and investment.
The first Activate SA AI summit will take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from 25 to 27 August.
Organisers say the initiative aims to grow the province’s AI sector, support local entrepreneurs and attract investment.

Avocado Project Could Create 600 Jobs

More than 600 people in the Makgoba community could gain jobs, farming opportunities and new businesses through a multi-million-rand avocado project outside Tzaneen, Limpopo.
SEDA has partnered with commercial farmer ZZ2 and the Makgoba-Mamphoko Trust to expand the project, with funding backed by the Khula Credit Guarantee Scheme, the Department of Small Business Development and a commercial bank.
The partnership aims to turn community participation in commercial farming into income and enterprise opportunities.
