Aviation Leaders Converged Last Week

Aviation leaders from around the world gathered in Durban last week, for the 3rd Next Generation of Aviation Professionals Global Summit.
The summit took place in response to aviation’s growing need for a qualified, inclusive and future-ready workforce, in order to support long-term growth and resilience across the sector.
Through its role in the Single African Air Transport Market initiative, South Africa is expected to contribute to job creation across the continent, with nearly 600-thousand jobs forecast to be generated in Africa alone.

Simoné Kruger Gears Up For World Athletics Championships

SA’s world-record-breaking para-athlete, Simoné Kruger, is gearing up to compete at the World Athletics Championships in September.
The Stellenbosch University student, born with cerebral palsy, has become a top South African para-sport athlete, breaking multiple world records since her teens, including a Paralympic record at the 2024 Paris Games.
She’s also the proud holder of the 2025 Zanele Situ Trophy from the Winelands International Para Athletics Championships, was named Athletics SA’s Athlete of the Year with a Disability, and recognised as South Africa’s top sports newsmaker in 2024.
This year, she’s in the running for both Sports-woman of the Year with a Disability and Youth/Junior Sport Star at the SA Sports Awards, as well as a G-Sport Award.
