Eastern Cape Women Farmers Shine at Awards
Story 2
Thirty year old Farmer Nandipha Sodwele took top honours at the Eastern Cape Women’s Entrepreneur Awards, winning one hundred thousand rand after being named Best Agro-Processing Entrepreneur and Best Overall Entrepreneur.
She runs Nolandumbinda Commercial Projects, turning maize into meal and selling by-products for animal feed.
The awards celebrated women breaking into male-dominated areas of agriculture across the province. Other winners, like Pumza Sambatha who focuses on mixed farming with poultry and vegetables, are helping create jobs and support local economies.
Officials say empowering women in agriculture strengthens food security, reduces poverty and inspires young people to see farming as a smart and innovative career.

IIE-Vega Johannesburg Brightens Sandton SPCA
Story 3
Staff and students from IIE-Vega Johannesburg transformed the Sandton SPCA’s Book and Charity Shop with a fresh coat of paint and a colourful mural.
Over two days, the team brought energy and creativity to the building, with more stencil artwork planned later this month to complete the design.
During the project, volunteers also spent time with the animals, and many have signed up to help walk dogs regularly.
Sandton SPCA staff welcomed the support, saying the initiative not only revitalised the space but celebrated the impact people can make in the lives of others.
