67 Blankets for Mandela Day initiative marks World Creativity and Innovation Day
The 67 Blankets for Mandela Day initiative held a public exhibition at Steyn City yesterday, showcasing handmade blankets created by community knitting groups supporting people in need.
To mark World Creativity and Innovation Day, the movement brought volunteers together to knit and crochet blankets for vulnerable communities.
The United Nations has designated 21 April as World Creativity and Innovation Day to highlight the role of creativity in human development.
Founder Carolyn Steyn says the goal is to bring people together while making a meaningful impact on vulnerable South Africans.

Jo’burg Coffee Festival coming in May
The Jo’burg Coffee Festival will take place at Fourways Mall rooftop in May 2026.
The event will bring together coffee lovers, roasters and industry professionals for tastings, workshops and live demonstrations.

Table Mountain nominated for Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction
Table Mountain has been nominated for Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards.
The Cape Town landmark previously won the title five times between 2014 and 2022.
It forms part of Table Mountain National Park and is listed among the New7Wonders of Nature.
The nomination recognises tourism performance and is part of the annual global awards programme for travel and hospitality.
