Soshanguve Learners Gain Practical Farming Skills

The Soshanguve Engineering School of Specialisation has launched a practical agriculture project with the Shoprite Foundation.
Two horticultural tunnels and a sustainable borehole will give 40 Grade 9 learners hands on training in soil science, crop rotation, composting, irrigation and pest control.
The project will also support the school’s feeding programme and could create opportunities for learners to explore agriculture as a business or career.

Construction Begins On Tutu Memorial Park In Milnerton

The City of Cape Town has officially started construction on Tutu Memorial Park in Milnerton, honouring the legacy of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Mama Leah Tutu.
A sod turning ceremony on Thursday marked the beginning of work on the park, which is expected to take about six months.
The space will include a children’s play area, memorial garden and amphitheatre.
Murals, sculptures and mosaics will also share the story of Archbishop Tutu’s life and legacy, while creating space for community activities and local artists.

Gauteng NPOs Invited To Apply For Three Year Funding

The Gauteng Department of Social Development has invited qualifying non profit organisations to apply for funding for the 2027/28 to 2029/30 financial years.
The funding will support programmes including services for families, people with disabilities, older persons, youth development, skills training, community nutrition and substance abuse prevention.
Applications close on 30 September at midnight, with late or incomplete submissions not being considered.
