The Gauteng Legislature’s Education Portfolio Committee donated 94 books to Ezibeleni School for Physically Disabled Children as part of Literacy Month.
The books cover topics including disability, identity, personal development and inclusion, with additional books expected once an outstanding order is finalised.
The donation will strengthen the school’s library and give learners more reading material suited to different curricula.

South African athlete Daniella Cowden has completed six full distance Ironman races across six continents in six months.
Her challenge began with Ironman South Africa in April before taking her to Brazil, Australia, Spain, Canada and Japan, where she completed the final race in Hokkaido.
Cowden’s achievement has earned her a Guinness World Record, following six demanding races covering the globe.

Tshwane University of Technology’s SunChaser 4 has won the Challenger Class of the Sasol Solar Challenge, an eight day competition testing solar powered vehicles on a more than 2,300 kilometre route across South Africa.
The team covered 2,369 kilometres from Sasolburg to Cape Town, finishing ahead of teams from Switzerland and India.
The challenge tests the vehicles’ efficiency, endurance and engineering, with the winner determined by the distance covered using solar power.
The vehicle was designed and built by TUT engineering students, who also received an innovation award from Ford before the challenge.
