TUT SunChaser 4 Wins Sasol Solar Challenge

Tshwane University of Technology’s SunChaser 4 has won the Challenger Class of the Sasol Solar Challenge, an eight day competition testing solar powered vehicles on a more than 2,300 kilometre route across South Africa.
The team covered 2,369 kilometres from Sasolburg to Cape Town, finishing ahead of teams from Switzerland and India.
The challenge tests the vehicles’ efficiency, endurance and engineering, with the winner determined by the distance covered using solar power.
The vehicle was designed and built by TUT engineering students, who also received an innovation award from Ford before the challenge.

Construction Begins On Tutu Memorial Park In Milnerton

The City of Cape Town has officially started construction on Tutu Memorial Park in Milnerton, honouring the legacy of Archbishop Desmond Tutu and Mama Leah Tutu.
A sod turning ceremony on Thursday marked the beginning of work on the park, which is expected to take about six months.
The space will include a children’s play area, memorial garden and amphitheatre.
Murals, sculptures and mosaics will also share the story of Archbishop Tutu’s life and legacy, while creating space for community activities and local artists

African Child at Work NPO hosted a breakfast programme for vulnerable primary school learners in Soweto on Wednesday.
The Soweto based organisation served cereal and soup to learners in Lepelaar Street before they headed to school.
The programme aimed to give children the energy they needed to concentrate and participate in lessons, while supporting families facing financial challenges.
