1,250 Young Performers Head To Wanderers

One-thousand-250 young musicians and dancers from across South Africa will take to the stage at Wanderers Stadium in Johannesburg next month.
They will compete in the Field Band Foundation’s National Championships on October 3, marking 29 years of the organisation using music and dance to support young people in communities across the country.
The Foundation works with young people aged two to 20, using music education to develop skills such as discipline, confidence and teamwork.
Its programmes give young people access to musical training while creating opportunities to grow through participation in the arts.

Mount Nelson Ranks Among World’s Best Hotels

Cape Town’s Mount Nelson Hotel has been ranked 34th in The World’s 50 Best Hotels for 2026.
Known locally as the Pink Lady, it is the only South African hotel on this year’s list and one of two African hotels to make the ranking.
The results were announced at an awards ceremony in Paris, with more than 800 voters from the hotel and travel industries taking part.
South African-born hotelier James McBride also received the SevenRooms Icon Award for his contribution to international hospitality.

The seven-week Africa Cup Cricket Competition is underway, bringing junior cricketers back onto the field.
The grassroots tournament started on September 13, with players competing in the U9, U11 and U13 age groups.
The competition gives young players regular match experience and an opportunity to develop their cricket skills.
Organiser Sydwell Ndlovu says the tournament can also help schools identify young cricket talent.
