South African Youth-owned businesses have been celebrated at the fifth Top 16 Youth-Owned Brands Awards.
The awards, held on September 2, recognised young entrepreneurs behind some of the country’s emerging brands.
More than 2,000 entries were received before the finalists were narrowed down to the Top 16.

eThekwini Tourism Sees 22.4% Visitor Rise

Tourism in eThekwini is showing signs of growth, with international visitors rising by 22.4% month-on-month in July.
South African Tourism data shows about 28,000 international arrivals, generating R83.1 million in spending, while domestic visitors spent more than R830 million — a 19% increase from June.
Visitors spent most on retail, restaurants, food and groceries, supporting businesses across the city.
The figures were presented at a tourism revitalisation meeting in Durban, as the municipality and its partners work to increase visitor numbers and spending.

Cape Town’s Mount Nelson Hotel has been ranked 34th in The World’s 50 Best Hotels for 2026.
Known locally as the Pink Lady, it is the only South African hotel on this year’s list and one of two African hotels to make the ranking.
The results were announced at an awards ceremony in Paris, with more than 800 voters from the hotel and travel industries taking part.
South African-born Hospitality professional James McBride also received the SevenRooms Icon Award for his contribution to international hospitality.
