NGO Makes Maths Exciting for Learners and Families Across South Africa
Story 2
Wesolve4X, a nonprofit organisation, is transforming how South African children and parents engage with mathematics.
The group offers free extra classes for learners in grades 4 to 12, with a focus on under-resourced schools, and trains parents to support homework, turning maths into a shared family activity.
To further encourage engagement, the organisation partners with corporate sponsors to run initiatives such as the Gibela-Wesolve4X Maths Competition.
Now expanded to grades 4 to 7, the competition combines online and in-person rounds, with winners receiving prizes and factory tours to see maths in action.
Since its launch, the programme has reached more than 2,000 learners, boosting marks, confidence, and parental involvement.
Organisers say the initiative is creating a lasting culture of maths appreciation, opening doors to future careers in engineering, technology, and actuarial science.
