Johannesburg gears up for landmark Bankenveld District City Project

The City of Johannesburg will undergo one of its biggest transformations with the development of the new Bankenveld District City.
The 300-hectare development, located off the Marlboro offramp, will include between 20,000 to 30,000 housing units, as well as commercial, retail, educational and medical facilities.
The project is expected to drive inclusive growth, boost investment, and position Johannesburg as a model for sustainable city-building in Africa.

PRASA records near 100% increase in passenger trips

The Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa says it saw a near 100 percent increase in the number of passenger trips taken across its rail network in the financial year that ended in 2025, taking that number to 77 million.
PRASA reported achieving revenue of 708 million Rand in the period under review.
The state-owned rail commuter released its annual performance records earlier this week and says its turnaround process is on track, with several performance targets reached.
