A new salon in Bryanston, north of Johannesburg, is making hair care easier for parents and children.
Amara and Friends, opened by 24-year-old Shela Ledwaba, offers services for adults and kids, including braiding, relaxers, kiddies packages, and a barber shop.
The salon features a vibrant play area, iPads, books, and workspaces for parents, ensuring kids are entertained while adults get their hair done.
Staff are trained to care for children and meet their specific hair needs.
Ledwaba hopes to expand the concept to her hometown in Limpopo, giving families there a child-friendly salon experience.

The 2025 Twyg Sustainable Fashion Awards have revealed their finalists, celebrating African designers who are making the fashion industry more ethical and environmentally conscious.
The awards spotlight innovation, local production, circular design, and social impact, with categories including Emerging Designer, Trans-seasonal Design, and the inaugural Pan-African Designer Award.
Winners will receive support for sustainable business growth, including cash prizes of R100,000 for key awards.
The finalists were selected by an international jury, and the winners will be announced at a Cape Town event on 27 November 2025.

A new satellite called Sentinel 6B has reached California for final launch preparations as part of ongoing efforts to measure rising sea levels with greater accuracy.
It will extend a global record of ocean height that has been maintained for more than three decades, helping scientists track how quickly the oceans are rising as the climate warms.
The satellite carries advanced instruments that improve measurements of sea level, water vapour, waves, and weather conditions over the open ocean.
The data will support coastal planning, storm surge guidance, marine forecasts, and long term climate research.
Sentinel 6B will take over from its twin after a brief overlap to ensure a smooth transition and a continuous record that communities worldwide rely on.
