Three young South African scientists are heading to Tunisia next week to share their research at the International Festival of Engineering Science and Technology.
The learners, who won medals at last year’s Eskom Expo for Young Scientists, will present projects on school logistics, aviation engineering and AI.
The festival runs next week and will include cultural excursions and scientific activities.
Eskom says the festival gives these young innovators a chance to shine on the world stage and contribute ideas that could solve real global challenges.

The Motsepe Foundation hosted the Race to Gender Equality on Sunday at Hillcrest Sports Campus in Pretoria, encouraging participants to run and walk while raising awareness about women’s rights.
The event links to the foundation’s Gender Equality and Wellness and Leadership (GEWAL) programme, which celebrates International Women’s Day in March.
Ambassadors including Olympic champion Caster Semenya and Miss South Africa Qhawekazi Mazaleni joined the race to mentor and inspire young women.
Through the race and other initiatives, the foundation provides bursaries for girls to study STEM subjects and encourages women to take opportunities in their communities.

Thirty-five runners are taking on the Two Oceans Marathon to help children in need of cleft surgery.
Every kilometre they run and every rand they raise supports Operation Smile South Africa in providing life-changing surgeries for children who otherwise could not afford them.
Earlier this year, Operation Smile ambassador David Grier ran 550 kilometres from Die Hel to Cape Town to support the same cause and inspire others to get involved.
Through their efforts, these runners are not just racing—they’re helping children eat, speak, and smile with confidence, one step at a time.
