Kalafong Provincial Tertiary Hospital in Gauteng is set to undergo further upgrades to improve patient experience and service delivery.
The Gauteng Health Department, led by MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko, has committed to addressing ageing infrastructure and outdated record-keeping systems, including queue management and digitalisation of patient records.
Recent improvements already include new CT scan and theatre equipment, standby generators, ICU upgrades, refurbished wards, and strengthened patient safety measures.
Contractors will soon begin work on additional infrastructure and systems to ensure faster, more efficient care for patients from Atteridgeville and across Pretoria.

Breadline Africa and its partners have provided 18 new sanitation facilities to Zakhele Primary School in Upper Tongaat. Previously, the school relied on just eight unhygienic toilets, some of which were flooded during heavy rain, creating serious safety risks for the 250 learners.
The new facilities include low-flush toilets, waterless urinals, accessible toilets for children with disabilities, and handwashing stations. Learners celebrated the handover with performances, artwork, and poetry, marking a safer and more dignified school environment.
