Constitution Hill will hold the 2026 Human Rights Festival from 26 to 29 March, marking its eighth edition as part of South Africa’s Human Rights Month.
The four-day event invites the public to engage with human rights issues through workshops, debates, public dialogues, and cultural activities under the theme Remembering the Past. Engaging the Present. Shaping a Just Future.
Highlights include the Visions of Freedom Film Festival, 1000 Drums for Solidarity, and music events supporting student tuition.
The festival will conclude with the WeThePeople Walk and Fit City Run, alongside wellness activities, a makers’ market, and performances celebrating South African arts and culture.

MathMoms Programme Boosts Learning and Employment in Western Cape

A Western Cape initiative is changing how young children experience maths while creating opportunities for unemployed women.
The MathMoms programme trains mothers to support foundation phase learners with basic maths through fun, play based lessons at schools and at home.
Since launching in Cape Town in 2016, the project has grown to reach thousands of learners, helping build confidence in a subject many find challenging.
The mothers are mentored by teachers and gain valuable skills, while also creating supportive learning environments.
