UJ Retains Top Spot for Research Output in South Africa

The University of Johannesburg has retained its position as South Africa’s leading producer of accredited research outputs, according to the Department of Higher Education and Training’s latest sector report.
UJ generated 3 513 accredited research output units in 2024, accounting for more than 13 percent of the country’s total research output.
The achievement marks the fourth consecutive year that UJ has ranked first nationally.
The university says the result reflects sustained growth in research productivity, with work published across accredited journals, books, book chapters and conference proceedings.

Hillcrest Children Donate to Support Families in Need

Learners from schools and early childhood organisations in Hillcrest, KwaZulu-Natal have made a meaningful contribution to Project Hope through a series of community giving initiatives.
Donations included 437 oranges from Thomas More College students, 140 Jars of Hope created by children at Mustard Seed Learning Space, and collections of R5 coins from Bright Buttons Pre-Primary School.
The donations will support Project Hope’s work with children and families in need, helping to provide food support and assistance through its ongoing programmes.
The initiative also highlights the spirit of generosity and compassion being encouraged among young people in the community.

A Midrand charity initiative is once again providing support to vulnerable residents during the winter months through blanket donations and other essential assistance.
Led by philanthropist Nagaraju Gurrala, the annual drive works with community partners to help homeless people, orphanages and struggling families across Gauteng.
The campaign recently received a boost from Halls, which donated blankets and other items to support the effort.
The initiative has been running for nearly a decade and has expanded over the years to include food parcels, grocery support and assistance for vulnerable households.
