Students at The IIE’s Varsity College Sandton campus recently took part in a fun and energetic sports week to promote health and wellness ahead of the exam period. Organised by the campus sports club committee, and Planet Fitness, the event included various physical challenges and competitions with prizes. The goal was to encourage students to stay active and manage academic stress through exercise. PR and events coordinator Kate Traill said the initiative was well-received and helped boost campus spirit.

70 SA Rhinos Relocated to Rwanda

Rwanda has officially welcomed 70 southern white rhinos to Aka gera National Park, marking the country’s largest-ever rhino relocation. These gentle giants made their way from South Africa in a journey spanning over 3,000 kilometres .This historic relocation forms part of the Rhino Rewild initiative, a collaborative effort powered by African Parks, the Rwanda Development Board, and the Howard G. Buffett Foundation. Akagera is now officially home to all of Africa’s Big Five: elephants, lions, buffalo, leopards and  white rhinos. For a park that once teetered on the edge of depletion, this is a full-circle moment worth celebrating. SA wins Miss Teen International

A teenager from Limpopo has won Miss Teen International in Peru. 17-year-old Pearl Mathebula from Makotopong in Limpopo made the country proud by winning Miss Teen International. She beat contestants from around the world, including Peru’s Luciana Henriquez and Venezuela’s Ángela García, who came second and third. The pageant is run by international director Marina Mora. Pearl qualified for the international competition after winning Miss Teenager South Africa in 2024 a year after reaching the top 10 in 2023.
