City Power has begun its meter audits across various areas in Johannesburg including Hursthill, Randburg, Roodepoort and Reuven.
The audits, which will run until August 31 seeks to ensure that all customers are properly metered and paying for the electricity they use.
The audits will involve checking meters, fixing faults, and verifying that customers are paying for their electricity consumption.
City Power is urging customers to cooperate with the meter audits to ensure a smooth process adding that refusing an audit could lead to disconnection a fine of R14,000, and additional reconnection fees.
Spokesperson, Isaac Mangena says if residents are unavailable, technicians will leave a ‘No Access’ letter by the customer’s premises with the company name and contact details.
