The Gauteng Health Department Embarks On 3rd Edition Of Surgical Marathons

As the country celebrates Nelson Mandela Day today the Gauteng Health Department will embark on the third edition of its surgical marathons.
Patients will benefit from more than 1,000 surgeries that will be conducted in a project, which is a collaboration between private facilities and public hospitals.
This time priority will be on critical surgeries such as prostate, cleft palate, cataract and stoma operations which are vital for improving overall quality of life for affected individuals.
MEC Nomantu Nkomo-Ralehoko will conduct a walkabout and oversight visit to theatres and wards to ensure the effective implementation of the surgical marathon.
