Christiaan Klopper successfully defended his men’s title at the Dis-Chem Ride for Sight in Boksburg, finishing the 125-kilometre race in 2 hours, 45 minutes and 14 seconds.
He powered past a breakaway group in a thrilling sprint to the finish, crossing the line ahead of teammate Reinardt Janse van Rensburg, with Ryno Schutte in third.
Klopper and Janse van Rensburg stayed in every key move of the peloton, using experience and knowledge of the course to gain an advantage despite being outnumbered.
The Ride for Sight is one of South Africa’s premier cycling events, attracting top riders and raising awareness for eye health initiatives.
This is the second consecutive year that Klopper and Janse van Rensburg have finished first and second, highlighting South African cycling talent and teamwork.

A blind adventurer and her guide dog have conquered the 65-kilometre Pondo Trail.
Angela Blackwell and her guide dog Jaydee completed the four-day trek through hot and dusty conditions, becoming the first blind person and guide dog pair to achieve the feat.
The challenge raised more than 300-thousand rand for the South African Guide Dogs Association through the Pause on the Path campaign.
The initiative also aimed to highlight the vital work the association does in supporting visually impaired South Africans.
Blackwell says working with Jaydee restored her confidence and independence.

The upgrade, supported by Microsoft South Africa and its partners, gives learners access to modern digital tools to boost skills, literacy and numeracy.
The ministers say the lab is a step toward expanding digital access and preparing pupils for a technology-driven future. Microsoft’s National Technology Officer, Asif Vallley, says it will help equip learners with essential skills and create more engaging classrooms.
