Woodmead workshop equips digital creators with AI and digital twin skills

A group of South African digital creators has been introduced to artificial intelligence and digital twin technology at a workshop held in Woodmead.
The session, hosted by Afru-ikigAI in partnership with Huawei Cloud and the South African Social Media Awards, brought together more than 20 award-winning creators with a combined online following of over 15 million.
The workshop focused on practical uses of AI, including the creation of digital versions of creators to support content production, workflow automation and new income streams.
Organisers say the initiative aims to equip creators with skills that can be applied immediately, with plans to roll out similar workshops across South Africa and other African markets.

The City of Johannesburg marked National Disability Rights Day with an empowerment programme held at the Johannesburg Zoo.
About 200 people living with disabilities took part in an educational and recreational outing aimed at promoting inclusion, reducing stigma and strengthening engagement between the city and the disabled community.
Participants were able to explore the zoo, socialise with others and access psychosocial support, with some attendees visiting the zoo for the first time.
The city says the programme forms part of its broader commitment to creating accessible public spaces and expanding empowerment initiatives in partnership with people with disabilities.

FIFA introduces lower-priced tickets for 2026 World Cup

FIFA has announced a new lower priced ticket category for the 2026 World Cup following concerns over affordability.
A limited number of Supporter Entry Tier tickets will be available at 60 dollars(or just over 1 thousand rand) for all 104 matches, including the final.
The tickets will be reserved for fans of qualified national teams and allocated through football associations. FIFA says the move is aimed at supporting travelling supporters and improving access to the tournament.
The organisation has also confirmed that administrative fees will be waived for refunds if a team is eliminated early. Ticket demand remains high, with millions of requests already received.
