Fuel prices expected to decrease in Jan.

South African motorists might get some relief at the pumps in January, as fuel prices are expected to drop.
According to projections from the Central Energy Fund, diesel prices are expected to drop by up to R1.02 per litre, while petrol could come down by around 15 to 17 cents per litre.
Illuminating paraffin is also forecasted to decrease by approximately 69 cents per litre.
Final prices are expected to be confirmed ahead of their implementation on 7 January 2026.

Table Mountain Aerial Cableway reaches 33 million visitors

The Table Mountain Aerial Cableway is celebrating a major milestone this week when it welcomed its 33-millionth visitor since operations began in 1929
Thabiso Letsoalo from Limpopo, who was visiting Cape Town with his partner Ofentse Huma, was surprised at the Lower Cable Station and officially named the 33-millionth guest to ride the cable car to the top.
The cableway has had its fair share of notable visitors over the years, including celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Sting, Arnold Schwarzenegger, Daniel Radcliffe, and Kelly Rowland.
Managing Director, Wahida Parker, says reaching 33 million visitors was incredible for the company, and welcoming both the 32 and 33 millionth visitors in the same year was truly remarkable.

Oscars to be streamed on Youtube beginning in 2029

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has signed a multi-year deal that will give YouTube the exclusive global rights to the Oscars, beginning in 2029.
The deal will run through 2033.
ABC, owned by Disney, has been the home of the Oscars for decades and will continue to show the awards ceremony through 2028.
The Academy says that through this collaboration, they will be able to celebrate cinema, inspire new generations of filmmakers, and provide access to their film history on an unprecedented global scale.
