The 30th annual Kaskar Festival in Hillcrest collected non perishable food and monetary donations for students at the University of Pretoria.
The event brought together churches, students and residents, with teams competing in races while spectators enjoyed live music, food stalls and other entertainment.
Organisers say the initiative shows how local partnerships can provide practical help to students who may not know where their next meal will come from

Thirty businesses and organisations in uMngeni, KwaZulu Natal, are giving unemployed young people a chance to gain real workplace experience through a partnership with Love uMngeni Skills Development.
The initiative gives participants the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals, build practical skills and understand what employers expect in the workplace.
And it is already leading to jobs, with several participants securing permanent employment after impressing their host businesses.

Learners, parents and staff from Ruimsig Montessori International School and Cottage Montessori School have collected more than 100 Santa Shoeboxes for children in need.
The campaign saw learners take an active role in selecting essential items and packing and decorating the shoeboxes.
The donations will be handed over through the Santa Shoebox Project, with the schools hoping to make the initiative an annual tradition.

Ruby McNally went skydiving to welcome her next century of life, proving that age has not stopped her from seeking new experiences.
