Institute Supports Underserved Youth With Career Guidance

The DK Lekola Global Education Institute is helping young people from underserved communities access mentorship, academic support and career guidance.
The youth-led organisation has worked with learners since 2022, providing support beyond the classroom and helping them access education opportunities.
Its work has been recognised in the Mail & Guardian 200 Young South Africans 2026, with plans to expand through Skills Project 2030.
Founder Dimakatso Koketso Lekola says the initiative will help create more opportunities for young people to build their futures.

Durban Braille Workshop Supports Children’s Learning

The Bright Eyes Trust will host a two-day Braille workshop in Durban in October to help parents, caregivers and educators support children preparing to learn Braille.
Participants will use playdough, threading, counting, tactile flashcards and sensory activities to build touch awareness, hand strength, coordination and fine motor skills.
They will also work with tools such as tactile clocks and a 3D-printed Braille cell.
Each participant will receive a Braille Resource Pack to continue the activities at home.
The workshop aims to help families build skills that support Braille literacy, learning and independence.

The Mpho Sekulisa Rugby Festival for Girls is giving young players a chance to develop their skills and grow their confidence on the field.
The festival promotes grassroots rugby, mentorship and leadership while challenging stereotypes about girls in the sport.
Organisers say the event is helping young players set their sights on higher levels of the game, including the Springbok Women.

Bulls Unveil “All Roads Lead to Loftus” Kit

The Bulls have unveiled their new home kit for the season, inspired by Loftus Versfeld. It’s called “All Roads Lead to Loftus” and celebrates the stadium as the home of the team and its fans.
The jersey has a dark navy-to-blue design, with a map showing roads leading to Loftus Versfeld in Pretoria.
CEO Edgar Rathbone says the jersey reflects the pride shared by the team, fans and city.
The kit is also made to keep players cool, last longer and give them better movement and grip.
