Curro Douglasdale Primary School marked its 10th anniversary last week, celebrating a decade of growth and achievement.

Learners, teachers and staff gathered to commemorate the milestone which highlighted the school’s evolution into a thriving, fully established primary school.

The school was founded by the late Sonja Davie in 2016 as a pre-school catering to younger children.

Plans to expand the institution were introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, paving the way for its current success.

The institution is now preparing to graduate its third group of Grade 7 learners, marking another milestone in its development.

Executive Head Dane Gabin has described the transformation as a testament to the school’s resilience and growth.

South Africa’s oldest wine-producing farm, Groot Constantia, has released a new short film titled “Rooted. Preserved. Shared.” The film honours the people behind its winemaking and conservation efforts and highlights how tradition and craftsmanship have shaped the farm into a national treasure.

The estate’s CEO Jean Naudé described the farm as a symbol of authenticity and a deep human connection to the land, where history, culture and winemaking come together.

Paris Engineer wins Picasso masterpiece

A Software engineer from Paris has won a Pablo Picasso painting worth at least $1 million in a raffle this week.
58 year old Ari Hodara, described himself as an amateur art enthusiast and a fan of Picasso's work.

He said he'd bought a ticket just days earlier for the charity raffle at Christie's auction house, in the French capital, after hearing about it by chance during a meal at a restaurant.

Organizers of the raffle said 120,000 tickets were sold worldwide, netting $14 million.

The organizers said two previous Picasso raffles have raised a total of more than 10 million euros for cultural work in Lebanon and water and hygiene programs in Africa.
