Curro Douglasdale Primary School marked its 10th anniversary last week, celebrating a decade of growth and achievement.

Learners, teachers and staff gathered to commemorate the milestone which highlighted the school’s evolution into a thriving, fully established primary school.

The school was founded by the late Sonja Davie in 2016 as a pre-school catering to younger children.

Plans to expand the institution were introduced during the Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, paving the way for its current success.

The institution is now preparing to graduate its third group of Grade 7 learners, marking another milestone in its development.

Executive Head Dane Gabin has described the transformation as a testament to the school’s resilience and growth.

The City Centre in Steyn City will host a vibrant display of colour and creativity as the 67 Blankets for Mandela Day movement prepares for a special gathering today.

The event, which also marks World Creativity and Innovation Day, will bring together knitting groups from across Johannesburg in celebration of community, compassion and artistic expression.

The initiative, which was founded by Carolyn Steyn, has grown into a global movement, uniting “KnitWits” from all walks of life who gather to knit and crochet for those in need.

Organisers say the venue will be transformed into a lively exhibition of handmade blankets, each carrying a unique story stitched with care and purpose.

Each handcrafted piece carries more than just warmth but also reflects the hands and hearts behind it.

Agulhas National Park launches upgraded tourism facilities

Table Mountain has once again been nominated as Africa’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards, placing the iconic landmark back on the international spotlight.

The nomination adds to Table Mountain’s impressive record, having previously secured the title five times between 2014 and 2022.
The landmark which is part of the Table Mountain National Park, is also recognised as one of the New7Wonders of Nature.

The Managing director of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company, Wahida Parker says the nomination reflects both national pride and the mountain’s global appeal.
