Over 11,000 meals reach Princess families

Rise Against Hunger South Africa and Clover Mama Afrika have provided more than 11,000 meals to vulnerable children and families in Princess, Roodepoort.
The partnership, which started in October 2025, aims to provide 54 000 meals to Mama Zakhe Rammekwa’s centre and local Early Childhood Development centres.
So far, more than 7 000 meals have gone to 10 ECD centres, while nearly 5 000 meals have been distributed through Mama Zakhe’s feeding programme.
Mama Zakhe says the meals have made a difference at her centre, where sourcing nutritious food has been difficult, and that for the families receiving them, the donations represent hope and a future.

Tshwane hosts Africa’s defence exhibition

South Africa has welcomed the world to Tshwane as the 13th Africa Aerospace and Defence Exhibition gets underway at Air Force Base Waterkloof.
The five-day event has brought together military leaders, defence companies and industry experts from across Africa and beyond.
They are meeting, sharing ideas and showcasing technology as they explore new ways to strengthen the continent’s defence industry and create opportunities for investment.
For South Africa, the exhibition is also a chance to showcase its people, skills and growing role in the aerospace and defence sector.

400,000 books to reach children nationwide

McDonald’s South Africa and the National Library of South Africa are distributing more than 400,000 children’s books to schools, ECD centres and communities across the country.
The programme has launched at a school in Mpumalanga, with books going to 10 ECD centres in the area.
Children will receive books to take home and take part in reading sessions, storytelling and other literacy activities.
A mobile library will also visit an ECD centre in Vaalbank, giving children a chance to explore books and library services.

New sports facility handed to Evaton learners

Deputy Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Peace Mabe has handed over a new multipurpose sports facility to learners at ED Mashabane Secondary School in Evaton, Gauteng.
The new “combi court” gives learners a space to take part in different sports and develop their skills.
Mabe also handed over sports clothing, equipment and educational books to learners from ED Mashabane, Tokelo and Mosiuoa schools.
The facility and donations are aimed at supporting both sport and learning in the local community.
