The event celebrated the departure of the first group of 500 learners who have been selected to participate in a transformative international scholarship programme in China.

The initiative aims to empower young South Africans with globally relevant qualifications in fields such as engineering, artificial intelligence and e-commerce.

New digital visa system set to streamline travel to South Africa

Tourism Minister Patricia de Lille has reaffirmed that a new visa system will be up and running by the end of September this year.

The Electronic Travel Authorisation system is designed to simplify visa applications and border entry for short-term tourists and other categories of travelers.

Applicants will be able to complete the process online and make secure payments.
An integrated AI system will then verify the authenticity of each passport against the standards of the issuing country.
The new system is part of the department’s plan to increase international visits in South Africa.

Carnarvon High School learners represent SA at World Robot Olympiad in Slovenia

Learners from Carnarvon High School, in the Northern Cape, traveled to Slovenia, earlier this month to represent South Africa in the World Robot Olympiad Open Championship.

The global competition brought together more than 200 teams from across the world, challenging participants to design and programme robots capable of navigating obstacles and completing complex missions.

One of the teams secured 14th place in the senior division, earning a silver medal, while another team finished 28th overall, receiving a bronze medal.
