With over 3 million licences set to expire between October and December, the RTMC is sending reminders to registered motorists and encouraging others to use their online platform to renew.
For added convenience, clients of major banks such as Capitec, FNB, and Nedbank can access the renewal platform directly through their banking apps.

BYD expands operations in SA

China-based BYD is looking to expand its operations in South Africa, with the company set to open hundreds of charging stations nationwide.
BYD is the world’s largest maker of new energy vehicles (NEVs), with over 1 million staff members worldwide.
The company has been steadily expanding its presence in South Africa, launching its Dolphin, Seal, Sealion and Shark models.
Speaking to BusinessTech, BYD Executive Vice President Stella Li said the company is looking to massively expand its charging infrastructure in the country.
This includes investing up to 300 charging stations in 2026.
