R27 billion housing project kicks off in Joburg South

The R27 billion Southern Farms Mega City Project, has officially broken ground at the Bushkoppies Site Camp in Johannesburg.

The site handover marked the start of a 10-year initiative, aimed at delivering integrated housing and economic upliftment in the South of Johannesburg.

The MMC for Human Settlements, Mlungisi Mabaso, emphasised the project’s long-term impact and its potential in tackling Joburg’s housing crisis, while reviving the city’s economy.

The Gauteng Provincial Legislature hosted the inaugural Boy-Child Sector Parliament in Alberton, in honour of the International Day of the Boy Child on the 16th of May.

The engagement seeks to empower and equip young boys to become responsible citizens and active advocates for a violence-free society.

The day highlights the significance of the wealfare of boy children and the difficulties they encounter, while honouring the positive contributions they make in their families and communities.

The Day was ratified by the United Nations in 2018, to complement the international Day of the Girl Child.

Amazon to expand its U.S. delivery network

International online retailer Amazon, has announced a $4 billion investment to expand its delivery network across remote areas in the United States by the end of 2026.

The expansion will grow Amazon's network to more than 200 delivery stations spanning 13,000 ZIP codes, enabling the delivery of over a billion additional packages annually to customers in small towns and remote communities.

The retailer's delivery expansion represents a significant scaling of its logistics footprint in less populated areas.
