The Nottingham Road Beardos have raised R1 million for community organisations in Howick after hosting a fundraising shavathon at the Nottingham Road Hotel.
The group has spent nearly a decade supporting causes like Midlands Hospice and Operation Bobbi Bear through beard-growing campaigns, charity events and donation drives.
The latest event included a market, potjie competition and auction, with members shaving off year-long beards as the main attraction.
Midlands Hospice says the donation will support home-based care for patients with life-limiting illnesses, while Operation Bobbi Bear will continue providing a safe space for vulnerable children.
