Adriaan Wildschutt has become the first South African to win the New York City Half-Marathon, finishing in an impressive 59 minutes 30 seconds on his debut.
He stayed with the lead pack for the first 10 kilometres before surging ahead after halfway, eventually crossing the finish line 11 seconds ahead of the USA’s Zouhair Talbi.
This victory builds on his debut in Valencia last year, where he broke the national half-marathon record, cementing him as one of South Africa’s brightest distance-running talents.

Team SPCA pedals for animals at Cape Town Cycle Tour

102 riders from Team SPCA took on the 109-kilometre Cape Town Cycle Tour, cycling to support animals in need.
Their efforts are helping prepare 70 cats and dogs for adoption, giving them care, comfort, and a chance at loving homes.
The campaign raised R777,382, an 11% increase from last year, thanks to the riders and generous supporters. One of the animals helped was Ivy, a cat who lost her owner but has now found her forever home.
