Southern African Learners Invited To Entrepreneurship Challenge

High school learners in South Africa, Namibia, Botswana and Eswatini can now enter the 2026 Allan Gray Entrepreneurship Challenge, with entries closing on 31 July.
The free online competition uses a business simulation game that allows learners to make decisions and build virtual retail businesses.
Participants can also pitch business ideas and compete for cash prizes and investment opportunities.
The challenge aims to introduce entrepreneurship skills to young people and encourage them to develop business ideas.

Western Cape Launches Construction Skills Learnership Programme

The Western Cape government has launched a School of Skills learnership programme aimed at providing accredited construction training to 90 graduates over 12 months.
Participants will come from School of Skills institutions in areas including Gugulethu, Retreat, Milnerton and Bellville.
The programme focuses on practical training in the construction sector to prepare young people for work.
The Western Cape's Dirk Wessels says the initiative is designed to support youth development and improve access to employment opportunities in local communities:

Springboks, SA 'A' Prepare For Season Openers

The Springboks and SA ‘A’ team are preparing for their season-opening matches in Gqeberha on Saturday.
The SA ‘A’ side will face Zimbabwe at Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium before the Springboks take on the Barbarians later in the day.
Both teams are training in Johannesburg until Wednesday before travelling to the Eastern Cape.

Grammys Add New Global Music Categories

The Recording Academy has added five new categories to the Grammy Awards, including Best Asian Pop Music Performance and Best Latin Song.
The new awards will recognise music in genres such as K-pop, J-pop, C-pop and Spanish-language songs.
The Academy has also changed eligibility rules for Best New Artist and renamed some existing categories.
The changes will take effect at next year's Grammy Awards.
